Joshua Rex would have never chosen country music for himself. In fact, the current fiddler and guitarist for the regionally renowned KC Cameron/Kali Indiana and Jack Hotel (and formerly associated acts such as DJ Bridwell and the Emmett Bower Band) spent years mastering various folk fiddling styles in preparation for the day he would finally start the heavy metal band he had always dreamed of frontmanning. Since that day never came, the natural alternative was to embrace the country upbringing of his most musically formative early-adulthood years while working for other artists – and that came all too easy for someone whose natural inclination has been to embrace the alternative.

Now, as Joshua Rex pushes 40, he has come out of the other end of the “y’allternative” pipeline with a project bearing his namesake. It both glorifies and defies tradition while embracing new production conventions. It is rebellious, soulful, and insists upon its own existence. His debut single, “Wake Up & Choose You”, takes accountability for the heartache that it was borne from and shouts out loud with trembling vulnerability. For Joshua Rex, the future takes full inventory of a life interestingly lived and emotions thoroughly experienced.

MORE THAN JUST A FIDDLER

On top of being a violinist/fiddler and singer/songwriter, Joshua Rex is also a guitarist, sound designer, and creative audio producer. He maintains several solo side projects, each for a particular concept of sonic exploration.
